| | accomplished | ] | As most of you dedicated readers and IMers know, I have a new website. It's now up and running, and I think it's pretty awesome. Also, Courtney Colour is no more. I've let her go. She's gone, may she rest in peace.
The new website is here, and in case you didn't know it, I want to be a pirate when I grow up. Go and check it out. Make sure you sign my guestbook (it's completely emptied now) and enter the contest. Same contest, different name, new leaderboard.
So, after this entry, I will no longer write in this journal. New personality, new website, new ( marley27) journal. I'll leave this one here, at least for a while, but it may disappear eventually.
Thanks for everything, Courtney Colour. But it's time to leave you behind.
Take it easy everyone, and come over to the Cove and check things out. I think you'll like what you see.

| | nostalgic | ] | I know it's been forever since I last updated, but I have a good excuse. I've been working on a brand new website. It's shinier and a lot friendlier and definitely more coordinated. I hope to reveal it soon. But I felt like the few friends that I have out there in cyberspace deserve to know what's going on. I promise that in the next week, you will have more from me, including a new journal that I've actually been keeping up with since I stopped writing in this one. So it it with a heavy heart that I tell you that this may be the last entry here. I'll will post the new address, if y'all are interested, or just keep checking my AIM profile, as I will definitely put it in there.
Peace out, Courtney Colour |

| | crushed | ] | I miss you so terribly.
I had to leave Iowa yesterday. I didn't want to. It hurt so badly to leave. To know that we could be together, and I threw that away...
I feel like I belong there. After all these years of being apart, we could finally have the opportunity to be together, and I choose to leave. How stupid am I.
I'm wondering if I made the right choice. I'm beginning to doubt that I can be happy here without him. He's my world. He makes me happy. I don't want to be without him anymore. I'm out of college, time to start building my life and starting a family. Not time to still have a long distance relationship. I feel too old to be "just" a long distance girlfriend. I'm ready for more than that. I want more.
But for now, I threw it away. |

| | drained | ] | Today was such a good day. We spent it with friends driving around Ames, treasure hunting like pirates. It was such a thrill and such a rush and we were so excited to have lived it, we were already talking about next weekend.
And in less than a second, the focus changed from fun to safety.
Mike and I were in a car accident this evening. We're both ok and everyone in the other car was fine. Mike's car was totaled. He is not pleased, to say the least. But the important thing, of course, is that we're fine. Didn't even break my glasses. The airbags popped, but neither of us hit them. I have a scrape on my knee probably from the dash and a scrape under my eye, from what, I have no idea.
Anyway, I'm exhausted. Time for sleep. Things will be better in the morning.

| | energetic | ] | What a fantastic New Year's. :)
It all started at 3:00 in the afternoon. Mike's family has their party then. His mom makes the most amazing foods! We have a meal made up mostly of appetizers. It was fantastic!
The dinner aspect of the party died down about 5:00. That's when the fun really began. ;) Leah, Joel, Mike and I played board games. Man, did we play the board games! We played until 2:00 in the morning when everyone pooped out on me. It was so much fun. We didn't even get to all the games I brought over. ;) It was such fun.
Now, today, we have Gritzmacher family Christmas at the hall. It was supposed to be a couple weeks ago, but my Grandpa blacked out and was in the hospital. No one wanted to have Christmas without him. We couldn't. So Take 2 is happening this afternoon. It's always a good time.
That's about all I got for now. I swear I'm going to try and write in this thing more often.
Happy New Year!

| | nostalgic | ] | Well, I made it. At 9:30 yesterday morning, I walked across the stage in Zorn arena proudly wearing a black cap and gown. It all seems so surreal. And now, I am back at home in West Allis, never having to go back to Eau Claire. Is it really over?
After reflecting on my five and a half years of college, I'd like to pass on some things I've learned that they don't tell you at orientation.
- Naps in the middle of the day are not only okay, they're sometimes required.
- One bad roomate do NOT spoil the bunch.
- Caffeine IS one of the four major food groups.
- The "bad" teacher or the "tough" teacher might be a matter of opinion.
- The "Freshman 15" is not inevitable.
- Christmas lights are never out of season.
- Get to know your campus. You never know what you're going to find.
- A dorm room can double as a dance floor.
- It's ok to write and highlight in your textbooks.
- The last minute is not always long enough.
- Make friends with people in your classes. They might be in class when you're not.
- If there are two classes you absolutely MUST take next semester, they will always be at the same time.
- Coloring books are not just for children.
- Upper classmen CAN be your friends.
- There are many MANY corners in the library; all are quiet, most are even well lit.
- Good notes are worth their weight on gold.
- Take advantage of all the campus events you can. You may never have opportunities like them again.
- Instant messengers are a lifesaver.
- Listen to your friends. They have a perspective you don't.
- Call your family and tell them you miss them.
- Don't be afraid to ask for help. Professors want you to do well.
- Not everybody drinks, smokes or does drugs.
- Just because people change doesn't mean you can't be friends with them, but it doesn't mean you have to either.
- No one's going to clean up your mess but you.
- It's still okay to cry and be lonely.
- Always always ALWAYS be nice to custodians. You never know when you'll need them to let you in to a building after hours.
- Participating in class discussions could be the difference between a plus and a minus.
- Not all your college learning takes place in a classroom.
- Some of the best nights can be spent with good friends and a board game.
Good luck to all of you who are still in school, or entering soon. It can be the best time of your life. Enjoy it while you can, because it's true what they say...
- Love it or hate it, it's over before you know it.

| | chipper | ] | Man. I am having a pretty good day. Allow me to share it with you. ;)
First of all, I slept well. Which is different from the last couple nights. I've had a stuffy nose and when that happens, if I can't breathe, I can't sleep. But last night, I took some Nyquil and was out in a few minutes, and I stayed asleep until Julie left the room this morning. But even when she left, I feel right back asleep. I slept til 11:38. That made me very happy. :)
Then we had yoga at noon. Always good on Friday, because it's meditative and restorative and not strenuous. Full of stretches and twists and all sorts of good stuff. It felt good, as it always does.
Then I treated Julie to lunch, because I found out that as of this past Sunday, I had $198.43 in meal plan dollars that I have to use up in the next three weeks. That's a good feeling. I'm going to be so fat by graduation! So we both had a good lunch today. On me. ;)
Then I had to go to class. It wasn't great, but it was over quickly, so that was okay.
Came home, looked at more free sheet music online. Always a good time. :)
Then Julie and I went to the bookstore so I could purchase my cap and gown! That was exciting. :) Only 15 more days til I get to wear it!! I also bought my EC shotglass. Julie wanted to go with me to bask in the glory of the shotglass buying. :) It was fun.
Came home, looked at more music. Printed out a LOT of music. A LOT. Gotta take advantage of the laser printers while I can, right? ;) Good thing I have all that paper from home. O:-) And I didn't even print out all the music I have bookmarked. Well, not YET anyway. ;)
After that, I organized all the music I printed out. Put in neatly in binders: one for duets, one for flute and piano pieces. It was very exciting. And when Julie came back from Maureen's, we played a bunch of the duets. We got two compliments from girls on our floor that likes our music. It was neat. We felt good about ourselves. :)
And that brings me to about now. I think I'm going to go print out more music! It's so exciting!!
Hope you're all having a good night too. I know at least a few people who are playing with beans. ;)
Talk to y'all later! |
